Construction Update
13.08.24 -The main piling works at Sundon Hill have now been completed and the piling rig is moving to Bull Farm, a portion of site located off of the A5. The piling rig will return to Sundon Hill later this year to in-fill the small section of planned solar where the temporary construction compound is located.
The works in the Chalgrave Road area are substantially completed and works have moved further along the cable route towards the A5
Contractors will need to remobilise to Chalgrave Road during the week commencing 26th Aug for cable splicing works.
Highways Works
Chalgrave Road Works
Chalgrave Road cable duct works are ongoing. Road modification works are scheduled to take place in February-March 2024.
A5 Works
No work can commence until we have certainty on matters to be decided by National Highways. one.network.

Site Preparing & Groundworks | commence Q1 2024
Site cleared of any existing structures or vegetation
Framing Installation | commence Q2 2024
Strong and durable frames made from high-quality materials
Specially designed for specific climate and weather conditions at the site
Expert technicians use specialised equipment to drive the frames into the ground
This process ensures suitability and longevity of the solar farm
Cabling & Trenching | commence Q2 2024
Trenches are carefully planned and marked out
Digging is carried out using specialised machinery to minimise damage to the surrounding environment
Cables are laid out in the trenches and protected using conduit or other protective materials
Trenches are then backfilled and compacted to protect the cables
Panel Assembly | commence Q2 2024
Solar panels are placed onto the frames and securely fastened
Panels are position to ensure optimal exposure to the sun
Technicians ensure proper spacing and alignment between the panels and frames
Final checks are performed to ensure panels are functioning properly and securely mounted
Electrical Component Foundation Preparation and Installation | commence Q2 2024
Preparation: Clearing of site, excavation, compacting of soil
Installation: Mounting of pre-fabricated components and assembly of an on-site built components
Security Installation | commence Q1 2024
Installation of security fence around the solar farm boundary (Timing to be confirmed)
Placement of CCTV cameras to monitor fence line and interior of site (Timing to be confirmed)
High Voltage Works | commence Q3 2024
Carried out by licensed electrical engineers
Necessary for solar farm to generate and transmit electricity
Commissioning | commence Q3 2024
Final testing of solar farm equipment and systems
Connection of solar farm to the electrical grid
Construction Decommissioning & Civil Works | commence Q4 2024
Removing construction equipment from site
Restoration of site and road system to original state (within a month of construction completion
